3076 shoes!!!

If you were at the HSM services last Saturday you saw a HUGE load of shoes sitting in the back of the tent! Thanks to Emma and Sarah Aungst and the rest of their small group for working so hard to get these shoes for Global Soles! 3076pairs of shoes!!! The bar has been set high! Can anyone beat it?!?!

Has your small group gotten together to collect shoes yet? If not, contact your leader today and ask them when you can go have some fun collecting shoes in a neighborhood!

one girl's story...

Rebecca Daily is a freshman at Trabucco Hills High School. She recently attended the Personal PEACE Training with her small group that HSM offered. While she was there, Rebecca began to feel God working on her, and the more stories she heard about those around our world who are suffering and hurting the more she felt like God was telling her to do something. Here's an excerpt of an interview Rebecca gave to Global Soles...

GS:"Rebecca, you just showed up here at the HSM offices with a huge load of shoes. How many pairs of shoes have you brought in today?"

Rebecca:"I think it's over 80 pairs. I quit counting at 80."

GS:"How did you collect so many pairs of shoes?"

Rebecca:"My dad and I just went walking around our neighborhood asking people to donate some shoes. Everyone we asked was really kind and donated shoes. Some people just donated one pair, and others donates a bunch of pairs."

GS:"Wow! That's so great! So you didn't do anything that required a lot of planning? You just went out one afternoon and started walking around and asking for shoes?"

Rebecca:"Yep!"

GS:"That's so great. What was that like for you?"

Rebecca:"It was alright. It wasn't too bad because my dad was with me. There was only one point that I was a little scared."

GS:"Really? Tell us about that. What was that like?"

Rebecca:"Well, I have this one neighbor that is an atheist. I dont really know them that well because they dont really talk too much to me. They have some signs on their doors that say things like 'no solicitors' and 'beware of dog'. But my dad and I knocked on their door anyway and just asked them if they would like to donate some shoes. And they did it!"

GS:"Really?! That's so great. They were willing to help with this effort! It's great to see someone who isn't even a believer in Jesus be willing to help with this. It shows how there's this something in all of us that wants to reach out and help others. They probably dont know it yet, but that was God working through them."

Rebecca:"Ya, it was cool!"

GS:"Well, Rebecca, thanks for bringing these shoes in today! You did something great when you listened to God prompting you to step up and do something! Doing that is going to help a lot of people!"

Rebecca:"Thanks. See ya later."
